Living sustainably can be easier for some than others.

It can be overwhelming in a busy day-day to figure out how to best take care of yourself, let alone thinking of the planet or anyone else.

I wanted to find some products that hit the mark.

1. Be a sustainable product. Natural, or sustainably made

2. Highlight an easy addition to a Self Care routine or replace something you already do

3. Donate a percentage of profits to youth and teen mental health programs

4. Be as accessible as possible (every product on this list is under $30 bucks)

Why? Well, I want you to take care of yourself first and foremost, but wouldn't it be great if a small thing you did for yourself was also good for the community and the world?

A portion of the profits will go to helping youth and teen mental health programs and education across the USA.

As the creator, I also receive a portion of profits to sustain myself and keep the work going!

So let's dive in! Here are 4 Sustainable Self Care items designed with people and planet in mind.

  1. Bamboo Toothbrush Set

One of the first sustainable items I ever had was a bamboo toothbrush. It's a really simple switch from the heavy chunky plastic to a biodegradable option.

The toothbrush handle are made from bamboo while the bristles are nylon. The bristles come in 4 different colors, 1 for each season or to know who's is who's.

Bamboo is such a fantastic sustainable material due to the rate in which it grows, so I like this better than other wood types for a tooth brush you replace a few times a year.

2. Vegan Activated Charcoal Soap

I wanted to feature a soap free from animal fats, artificial dyes, and scent free... so if you are looking for a smelly good soap you should probably keep scrolling.

So many people struggle with soaps sensitive enough for both body and face. Activated charcoal is great for your skin and some people react to the animal fats causing them to break out. I also wanted to feature an unscented soap, but if you need some vegan smelly good options, check them out here.

For this vegan soap, it includes: saponified olive oil, coconut oil, organic sustainable palm oil, organic shea butter, castor oil, activated charcoal

A short list compared to the 15 plus ingredients other soaps and body washes can have.

3. Dead Sea Sponge

Packed with minerals and anti-microbial properties, Dead Sea Sponges are an awesome product for your skin. They are great for exfoliation and build up a fantastic lather for cleansing.

Being anti-microbial, they are also naturally hypo-allergenic and healthier than synthetic based sponges that can harbor bacteria.

Highly recommend this addition to your skin care routine, or as a replacement of your old sponges and plastic loofas.

4. Vegan Organic Lip Balm

One of my favorite new finds. I struggle with finding compostable and bio-degradable packaged products. I have over time reduced the level of trash I put in landfills, but I certainly am not perfect.

This lip balm checks a few boxes for me.

  1. It's vegan and cruelty free
  2. It has all certified organic ingredients
  3. The lip balm packaging and the box it comes in is all plastic free and compostable
  4. Every item in Kakkoi! Designs self care line donates towards youth and mental health programs

So good for animals? Check

Good for your body? Check

Good for the planet? Check

And a bonus, you are caring for others while caring for yourself.

Any one of these single products is a great way to replace something you already use with something sustainable. Just a small choice and change that helps both people and the planet.

If we each make small conscious changes in the way we shop, we can shift the direction and future of how companies handle sustainability and make them commit to supporting the planet and communities in it.

If you are looking to make a bigger splash and really start your sustainable self care journey, I encourage you to check out the next 2 sustainable kits. As a kit, each item is about $10-$11 dollars. It's a larger investment up front, but you get more bang for your buck.

Zero-Waste Bath Accessories Bundle

This bathroom and self care kit puts sustainability first. 6 items built for longevity, they can add sustainability to any self care routine.

I love the wooden, wide-tooth comb. It works well on my hair for detangling.

This kit has one eco tooth brush to get you started.

And I love the dual sided wooden body brush with massager.

This 6 piece set retails for $62.50 and is a great way to kick off your sustainable bathroom.

Eco Essential Starter Kit

I love this starter kit for anyone looking to replace a few daily used items with eco friendly and sustainable options.

This starter kit includes 3 items for the kitchen, reusable silicone food storage bag, wooden sisal dish brush, natural loofa sponges, and 3 items for the bathroom, bamboo toothbrush, set of reusable and washable make-up pads, and one konjac sponge. Although I will note, the loofa sponges are also great for exfoliating your skin! I'd just keep the sponge dedicated to either kitchen OR bathroom for cleanliness reasons.

It's a great mixture of self care and home care which I love. And if you aren't sure where to start in your sustainable self care journey, either of these sets are a good start.

This Eco Essential Kit also sells for $62.50.

Self care looks different for everyone. I wanted to highlight some options that are a bit more gender neutral. I truly feel anyone can use these products and feel good about doing something for yourself, while also doing something good for others.

A portion of the profits from the sales of each of our collections go towards a cause. For self care, we feel this intertwines with mental health, so a portion of profits go towards helping youth and teen programs with a mental health focus across the United States.
